Just thought I would pop by and include a slideshow presentation of our 2008 TVMC Show & Go event. I apologize for taking so long uploading it to the site as I’ve been extremely busy the month of August.

Come join us this Saturday, August 16 for our monthly Mopar Meeting at the Optimist Club! You can find directions to the Optimist Club on our navigation menu to the side of this post.

We will have guest speaker John Vaughn at our meeting. He’s a retired Chrysler engineer who worked on the Wing Cars. If you have any Wing Car memorabilia (pictures, models, collectibles) then please bring them to the meeting!

Just thought I would post a notice that our next club meeting is on July 19. As of right now, no topic is set for what we will discuss, but that will change come Tuesday night when I find out. However, I am pretty sure we will touch base on our show and what we can do to improve it for next year.

We will have our meeting at the same place (The Optimist Club – see sidebar for directions) and time (8:00 A.M. sharp!).

Huntsville Dragway has photos from our 2008 Show & Go Event, so head on over there to see your car if you attended! As for the pictures that our club took, they should be uploaded shortly as soon as I get them in my hand.

2008 TVMC Show and Go is less than 2 weeks!

Are you getting ready? In two weeks, we will have our 10th annual TVMC Show & Go event at the Huntsville Dragway! You can find out all of the information that you need on our Show & Go page, as well as pictures from previous shows!

Speaking of pictures, I found a much easier way to add pics to our gallery, so it will not take as long to upload them. Of course, the thumbnails are not quite up on quality, but it makes updating for me a lot easier than what it was.

Come join us this Saturday, April 19 for our monthly club meet. Vice President George Zoller will have a presentation on cam shaft installation in a big block and we will also be covering show prep.

Don’t forget, we have a cruise in that night as well! We will kick things off Saturday night at 7:00 at the Sonic Drive-In on Wall Triania in Madison.

Next meeting and cruise-in is this Saturday, March 15!

It’s that time of month again! Come join us this Saturday, March 15th at the Optimist Club from 8-10am for our monthly mopar meeting! We will have Bob Glover giving a presentation of his soon-to-be garage (that’s if he doesn’t accidently blow it up when he is wiring it) as well as a general chat about all things mopar.

After that, swing on by for our cruise-in! We have a new location and schedule set up. We will now be at the Sonic in Madison, you know, the one right off of Highway 20 on the Wall Triana exit. The schedule will now be from the months of March thru October. It’s still at the same time of 7-9 pm, we just thought we would take off the winter months so you won’t be cold. Tons of parking spots are available and there are plenty of seats in the middle court to just hang out. Not to mention GREAT FOOD! See-you there!

Rest in Peace, George R. Snellen ~ 1949 – 2008

Febraury 28th update:

I attended the visitation earlier today. Unforunately, I was too choked to even speak…But it’s a lot easier to express myself when you are using a keyboard, so I’ll type what I wanted to say. Please bare with me – my writing is not that great.

From the 2 years that I’ve known him, I would have to say George Snellen was a stand-up respectable person. Everytime I saw him, he had a positive attitude and never had a dull moment. He had a love for many hobbies from airplanes to mopars. Not to mention, he was brilliant when it came to them to boot. In fact, every time I had a question or a problem, he would be the first to contact. He had the answer to just about everything, and if he didn’t he’d direct you to someone who would.

While many of you have known George for years, I cannot say that much more about him…I’d be repeating the same thing over and over. He will be truely missed. However, keep in mind that even though he is gone from this earth, he is up there in heaven fully restored and re-living his past memories and is watching over his loved ones.

Terrible news…

Our club’s vice President, Geoge R. Snellen JR. passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala from a six month battle with leukemia. We are sad to hear this, but we all know that George is now in a much better place. The Tennessee Valley Mopar Club sends our condolences to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia Snellen of New Market; a son, Tom Snellen of Huntsville; a sister, Cathy Ferguson of Louisville; two brothers, David Snellen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and James and Debbie Snellen of Hodgenville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. CST Friday at Oakley Baptist Church in New Market with Brother Charles Hammons officiating.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. CST Thursday at Hazel Green Funeral Home in Hazel Green, Ala., and continues at 10 a.m. CST Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in New Market.

Hazel Green Funeral Home in Hazel Green, Al is in charge of arrangements.

If you have a word to share about George, then please leave a comment.

Next meeting & cruise-in is this Saturday, Feb. 16

Our next TVMC meeting is set for this Saturday, February 16 starting 8:00 AM at The Optimist Club. This months meeting is hosted by Eagle Collision owner Richard King. Richard will discuss bodywork and painting on classic cars and what an owner should do to prepare his car for painting and most importantly, what he should NOT do and let the expert accomplish for a excellent final painting of their car. He will also conduct a Q&A period on any information or questions that the club members are interested in. He is one of our sponsors of our annual car show so I hope we will have good participation!

As for our cruise-ins, they are in need of a new place. We still are set to have one this Saturday at the Dairy Queen in Madison, but we should have a new location pinned down for our March cruise-in. Attendance has been low due to the cold weather, so we’re looking at revamping the cruise-in dates to stick with the warmer weather.

On a sidenote, we apologize for the downtime. The host provider had some major issues, but I believed it has been fixed.
